WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) -Four people are charged in connection with a week old Clay County homicide.

All four men made their first court appearance Friday afternoon in Clay County Justice Court.

Investigators say Roderick Johnson, 26, pulled the trigger just before James White, 38, was shot multiple times on May 15th at a Dixie Road mobile home.

Johnson is charged with first degree murder.

Casey Watkins, 20, and Clinton Naugles, 27, are both charged with first degree murder, accessory before and after the fact. The murder charge comes into play because of the accessory charges.

Raheem Johnson, 20, is charged with accessory before the fact.

Sources close to the investigation tell WCBI law enforcement believe White was set up to be killed.

However, investigators are releasing few details about the homicide.

“Part of the ongoing investigation is really trying to determine exactly what the motive was. It has been very frustrating because of the inconsistent stories and the amount of people that we’ve had to interview. Fortunately, we had a lot of help from other agencies,” said Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott.

Bond was set at $1 million for all four suspects.

Two other people are charged with hindering prosecution in the case.

Bond was set at $5,000.00 each for Steve Wordlaw, 52, of Starkville and Jamarcus Ivy, 20, of Maben.

Roderick Johnson was arrested by Tupelo and Lee County law enforcement.

Naugles was arrested in Chickasaw County.

Sheriff Eddie Scott says Oktibbeha County deputies and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents also helped in this investigation.
