Video: USAF Secretary Speaks in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s almost been one year since The Honorable Deborah Lee James was named the 23rd Secretary of the Air Force. As part of her first year in office, James has traveled to more than 50 Air Force bases around the county.

Thursday, she made a stop at the Columbus Air Force Base.

The Honorable Deborah Lee James has spent the past 24 hours touring Columbus’ Air Force Base, meeting with airmen, and getting a feel of what current air force members have to say about the field.

James says her first impression of the Columbus base is one to remember.

“Very, very impressed with all of the airmen that I’ve met here and Columbus. Very, very important mission. The undergraduate pilot training mission here at Columbus, we’re producing our Air Force pilot’s for the future. So it’s an essential mission and my third point is we have a wonderful, supportive community in Columbus and in the surrounding area and they’re very good to our airmen and we’re very grateful for that,” U.S.A.F Secretary Deborah Lee James.

James says she looks forward to a new year, we new changes and improvements within the Air Force..
