VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – Alabama churchgoers took a trip back in time tonight. Mt. Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Vernon hosted its annual Night in Bethlehem event, taking participants back to the Holy Land on the night of Jesus’ birth. Groups toured several tents where volunteers and church members acted out various characters. Work on the city started in October and was completed today. The church says the event has brought in 15 hundred people before and is a great way to spread the gospel of Christ.

“We’re emphasizing that Jesus Christ was born, he lived, he died and he’s coming again. And, so, we’re hoping that that message of salvation, the gospel message that’s being presented through this, we hope will affect not only individuals, but families and even our community,” said pastor Danny Thompson.

A Night in Bethlehem will continue through Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m. each night.
