WEBSTER, Miss. (WCBI) — Webster County voters go to the polls Tuesday to help decide the future of the county’s courthouse.

The issue will be whether to restore the historic county courthouse in Walthall, or build a new facility in the county seat.

The old building was destroyed by fire in January 2013.

Since then, supervisors have haggled with its insurance carrier and public opinion about the next move.

The referendum results aren’t binding, but supervisors say it’ll make a big difference. Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
