Video: West Point Church Feeds Thousands

[bitsontherun b2MWqRFy]WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Thanksgiving is the holiday for good food, fellowship and being grateful for our many blessings.  As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, many organizations are giving back and providing holiday meals to those in need. On Wednesday(11-14), the Third Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, sponsored a pre-Thanksgiving lunch for the community. Marti Worden says she’s grateful to the Church for hosting the event. “I don’t have any family here in town and I don’t think I’ll be having anyone come for Thanksgiving. So it means a lot to be able to go with people you know,” says Worden. The Third Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church serves hot meals each Wednesday to those in need but this Wednesday’s meal is in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. “We’ve already done about 700 plates and probably have about 500 more to go. It just thrills my heart to see these plates going out to help these people,” says Volunteer Alma Brown. Brown says they started the mission about 10 years ago and the community along with local businesses have donated to the project. Thousands in West Point will receive a meal today. Volunteers also delivered the meals to families throughout the city of West Point.
