WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — Golden Triangle residents are using their acting skills to celebrate Black History Month.

15 people with Living Manna Church in West Point performed a black history play this weekend called “From Bunce to the Big House.”

It was written and directed by WCBI’s very own R.H. Brown.

Reporter Caresse Jackman also had a role in the performance.

The play tracks slaves as they progress through the Civil War period and the 1960s.

“We’ve come a long way as a people,” Brown said. “I think that was the reason why we did that. I really believe that it was prayer that brought us to the forefront.”

“I now had a chance to feel pretty much what it would have been like if that was me,” said performer Belinda Rice. “All races – in order for us to embrace who we are as a people – we must know our history.”

The play was done in only four scenes, but still covered a lot of ground.
