COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–When it comes to economic development partnership, from what we understand, the Golden Triangle Link is giving West Point the most attention of the three cities.

Potential future expansions at Yokohama are expected to bring total employment at the plant to 2,000 jobs.

In the past West Point apparently put all their eggs in one economic basket, relying on Bryan Foods. Looking at a chart in his office, Link CEO Joe Max Higgins is pointing to a half dozen potential projects totally one point four billion dollars and 3 thousand jobs.

Future economic development is only starting with Yokohama Tire.

“So Clay County has got one, two, three, four, I’m marking six projects in Clay County right now. For Clay County, so they are not the only guys,” said Joe Max Higgins/Link CEO.

A lot of buildings have been left vacant due to past job losses in West Point that can be an attraction for industries wanting to locate there.
