WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — West Point could get some help from the state to renovate City Hall.

The city has applied for a grant from the Department of Archives and History for repairs to the outside of the historic building.

West Point was previously turned down for a similar grant, but city leaders are optimistic about this application.

“The grant funds are available to make sure you know we have had some problems with leakage and things like that,” West Point Grant Writer Melanie Busby said. “So, the architect has come and looked at the building, and given us an estimate. Whatever that cost is, we’ll apply for that amount.”

The repairs to City Hall are expected to be about $100,000.
