WINONA, Miss.(WCBI)–A full service grocery store in Montgomery County destroyed by fire last summer has risen from the ashes.

Owners of a brand new SuperValu Grocery Store are about to open their doors once again. Working day and night, the business frequented by many is back.

“And he has built a beautiful store here. And I think its something that the people of Winona and the surrounding Montgomery County and surrounding cities are going to be absolutely amazed at what he has done here for them,” said Eddie Dodd/Store Manager.

July 20th, the day of the blaze is indelibly etched in the minds of the 60 employees who depended on the business for their livelihood and so many necessities.

“I was walking with my wife and my co manager called me and said you’ve got to get up here the store is on fire. Initially he is a prankster so initially I thought that was a prank,” said Eddie Dodd.

“You know when it first happened we were so disheartened I recon, but I guess everything works out for the better. Because its going to be a brand new real state of the art store. Its going to be up to date,” said David Blaylock/Winona.

“Our deli has also increased. We’re going to have the same core plate lunches that we’ve always had. But we are getting into some more gourmet coffees and we are going to do energy drinks and smoothes. Plus we’ve added another 8 feet for our deli bar. So we’ll be able to carry even more selections for our hot food during the day,” said Eddie Dodd.

Owners at SuperValu had vowed to come back bigger and better, and it looks like that is exactly whats happening.

“We’ve increased a good bit of percentage wise in space that way so. We’re going to have not only offer what we did. A lot more products to offer our community and our people and our customers,” said Eddie Dodd.

In addition to more square footage, 12 to fifteen more workers are now at the store when it opens next Friday.
