WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Now that Louisville and Winston County knows they will receive a large amount of federal help, additional plans can be made.

$10.8 million is slated for Winston Medical Center.

Plans include pursuing a Critical Access Designation, which will help with medicare reimbursements.

Louisville Mayor Will Hill said there is a lot of sentiment to keep the new building in the same location.

Drawings have been made for a new, permanent facility, but a settlement must be reached first.

“Hopefully this is the final stages of the insurance settlement,” Hill said. “And with FEMA participating, their work has been great. The numbers are there. It’s just been a matter of getting the maximum amount of dollars we can out of insurance.”

Hill says there are also talks of having a transitional facility at Winston Medical Center.
