COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The State Senate District 17 special election runoff is Tuesday and the two candidates are making sure voters hear their message. Bobby Patrick and Chuck Younger know they’ll have to learn the ins and outs of the State Senate and learn more about the other lawmakers, if elected. Both men believe crafting a state budget will be their most difficult job in Jackson.

“Medicaid, education, law enforcement; all of the various and myriad parts of state government with one budget,” said District 17 candidate, Bobby Patrick. “You have to fill everyone of those bowls and I believe that’s a tough job.”

“Right now I do,” said candidate Chuck Younger when asked if education was the biggest hurdle for the legislature. “Because we need to fund everything in our education system, from Pre-K to the universities.”

The two candidates go into detail on Mid Morning With Aundrea Friday morning at 9:00.
