Video: Yokohama Miss. President Stops by West Point Rotary Club

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — West Point is rolling out the welcome mat for the new Yokohama tire plant.

The local Rotary Club held a luncheon today, welcoming the president of the Mississippi division today. Tadaharu Yamamoto talked about the the new construction plans and the company’s future. He said Yokohama scouted over 3,000 counties nationwide, and West Point fit the company’s location standards.

“There are quality workers here,” Yamamoto said. “A lot of assistance from Mississippi state and communities. And also the good location for tire business. So, there are so many reasons to choose here.”

Yokohama tires is looking to employ 500 workers for the first phase of production. The plant will began mass production in October of 2015.
