COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Two days before Thanksgiving, few voters turned out for Tuesday’s runoff elections. We begin in Lowndes County where the runoff in a special election, could mean an upper hand in the general election, as well as first dibs on a redrawn district. Retired insurance agent Bobby Patrick and long-time farmer Chuck Younger met again on Tuesday’s ballot, to fill the District 17 State Senate seat, left vacant by the death of Terry Brown. Younger, who was the top vote getter on November fourth, took the victory tonight.

“To learn a lot,”said Younger following his victory. “I’m going to be in contact with some senators  I’ve already been in contact with. They’re going to tell me a lot of things that are going on and I’m going to try to learn and just do the best I can for Lowndes County.”

Younger will have to run again next November in a district that changes significantly with new boundaries, that include parts of Lowndes and Monroe counties.
