WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — West Point Rotarians met at Cafe Ritz Thursday to reflected on their centennial year.

In nearly 100 years, Rotary has grown from a small group of four men in Chicago to a worldwide force of 1.2 million Rotarians in 164 countries.

After viewing an historical video, Rotarians presented The Paul Harris Fellow Award to members of The Harrell Family in memory of James Thomas Harrell. The honor is restored on members who embody a spirit of personal service above self.

“Its definitely hard but its definitely a great honor that the rotary would choose to honor my brother with this award. And its just, its just absolutely incredible the amount of support that the community has given us in our time of need,” said Robert Harrell, West Point.

The Rotary’s primary motto is “Service above Self”; an earlier motto, “one profits most who serves best”.
