W Adopts New Specialty Tag

New W License Plate2COLUMBUS, Miss. — Mississippi University for Women is announcing the availability of a new specialty car tag, which may be ordered from county tax assessor offices.

“We continue to build a strong brand and visual identity,” said President Jim Borsig. “The new tag is much more visible from a distance and reinforces the logo that the university is using widely,” he said.

The W worked with the state Department of Revenue to submit and receive approval on the design, which also carries the university’s web address and the slogan “Long Blue Line.” “We thank everyone at DOR for their assistance in helping us with this project,” Borsig said. The last car tag design was done in 1992.

Those who have the older specialty tag may continue to use it. As with the older tags, the new tags are available for $51 above the current assessed value of the vehicle tag. Of that, $31.50 returns to The W to support its programs.

“This is a great way for alumni and friends of The W to show their pride in this institution and provide support to the university at the same time,” Borsig said. “We think the design will be popular.”
