Walmart Shooting Leaves One Dead And An Officer Wounded

IUKA, Miss. (WCBI) — Authorities say it all began at a local Iuka gas station when police were attempting to stop 34-year-old Brent Means for reckless driving.

Means then fled from officers, leading them in a chase to Walmart.

He jumped out of his car at the front doors, with a shot gun, and began exchanging gun fire with the officers.

Authorities say around 50 shell casings were present at the scene.

During the gunfire, Means wounded one police officer, who suffered a minor gunshot wound.

The officer was treated and later released at a local hospital.

Means was fatally shot at the scene.

Authorities want to credit the Walmart managers who helped shoppers out of the store during the incident.

No shoppers were wounded in the gunfire.

Mississippi Bureau Of Investigation is taking over the case.
