Walnut Death Investigation, Ruled As Homicide

WALNUT, Miss.(WCBI)– A man was found on County Road 127, Walnut, early Wednesday morning.

Tippah County Coroner, Chad Bateman, said he was called to County Road 127 around eight Wednesday morning. The body of  Walnut native, Randle Porterfield, 59, was found at the site.

Authorities say, Porterfield died some time in the overnight hours of a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation later ruled the death as a homicide.
