WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Webster County should know by next week how much money it will receive in the courthouse fire insurance settlement.

A federal judge gave the arbitration panel until next week to agree on an amount.

County attorney Buchanan Meek tells WCBI the panel will have to agree on an amount the courthouse was worth when it burned in January 2013.

The county has been in negotiations with the insurance company for a settlement for years.

Ground has been cleared at the intersection of Highways 9 and 50 in Walthall for the new courthouse to be built.
