WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — The City of West Point is looking for some help with a clean-up project.

The West Point Board of Selectmen has given the go ahead to apply for an EPA Brownfield Grant to cover part of the clean up costs for the West Side School.

The city is acquiring the former school and would like to renovate it rather than tear it down.

Renovation costs are expected to top $1 million, and the building has asbestos that must be removed before some of the other work can go ahead.

The EPA awards Brownfield grants to address sites contaminated by hazardous substances.
