West Point Police Make Arrests In Rape Investigation

WEST POINT, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – West Point Police have two arrests in a statutory rape case that has been under investigation over the past week.

The investigation stems from a report of sexual contact between two men and a juvenile female.

25 year old Ryan J. Cox of West Point was arrested at his home on Industrial Access Road without incident. He has been charged with statutory rape and was released on a $50,000 bond.

According to Chief of Police Tim Brinkley, “Whenever investigations involve juvenile victims we are always especially careful to protect their identity. We are dealing with very sensitive information and cannot disclose very many details about the case”.

No information is being released regarding the location of the crime or the age of the victim.

Police also took 24 year old Tevin Nance of West Point into custody late this evening.

His last known address was 819 Sixth Street. Mr. Nance surrendered himself to authorities at police headquarters after being notified that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

He is currently being held at the Clay County Detention Center. He was also charged with statutory rape and his bond was set at $50,000,
