White Station Residents to See Lower Water Rates

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. — Customers of the White Station Water Association in Clay County can look forward to lower water bills after recent PSC action, says Northern District Commissioner Brandon Presley. At the Commission’s September open meeting this week, the Commission unanimously approved the transfer of White Station’s system to the City of West Point.

White Station requested that West Point take over the system after the retirement of its long-serving operator made upkeep and maintenance too much of a financial strain on the association. Customers of White Station will now be served at West Point’s lower rates.

“This transfer accomplishes everything we like to see at the Commission. It not only ensures reliable service, but at lower rates to boot. I was proud to be able to sign that Order for the people of Clay County,” Presley said.

Customers of White Station will see a $3.50 reduction in their monthly customer charge as well as a reduction in the usage rate under West Point’s Tariff. The new rates go into effect immediately with the transfer.
