COLUMBUS, Miss. — A popular Lowndes County educator is taking a break.

Bob Williford is stepping down as headmaster at Immanuel Christian School at the end of this school year.

The former Columbus High principal has been at Immanuel seven years and an educator for 40 years.

The Columbus native and Mississippi State grad started his career at the former Lee High School before moving to Columbus High when the city merged high schools.

Williford stops short of using the word retirement. Instead, he says 40 years is enough in education and that he’ll now turn to other interests.
