Winona Delays Vote On Sunday Beer Sales
WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) — With more than 50 people packing the board room, Winona aldermen delayed a decision Tuesday night on whether to allow Sunday beer sales.
During a public hearing Tuesday night, a dozen people spoke against the change while four spoke in favor.Three businesses also brought petitions signed by people in favor of Sunday sales.
Opponents cited safety and health issues while supporters said it would boost the local economy.
A convenience store owner sparked the debate last month when he asked aldermen to allow the sales. Aldermen set Tuesday’s hearing to hear from the public.
But after the discussion, aldermen said they wanted more time before making a decision.
