WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Folks in Montgomery County are taking advantage of a new grocery store.

SuperValu in Winona is back open, after it was destroyed by a fire last summer.

The new facility has more space for a larger deli, and more products than before.

Workers say residents are excited about having a new place to shop again.

“Folks were standing at the door, and the parking lot has been full,” said Forrest Edwards, assistant manager. “It’s been a big response from the community. They have been waiting for this store to get open, and it’s been great this morning.”

“It feels very, very exciting,” said customer Tierria Campbell. “I can’t even tell you in words how exciting it is because we have much more variety here at SuperValu, so it’s just so amazing, and then we don’t have to travel all the way to Grenada anymore.”

The official grand opening ceremony will be February 3.

The store is open seven days a week.
