LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Hundreds of Winston County children are taking a stance against drugs.

About 260 students graduated from the county’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, Friday.

Corporal Tonya McWhirter with the Louisville police department showed them how to avoid situations that could lead to drugs or gangs.

“They learned anything from bullying, to risk and consequences,” McWhirter said. “Also, they learned about how to be in charge of their lives and stay out of risky situations.”

Participating schools in the D.A.R.E. program include Louisville Elementary, Nanih Waiya Attendance Center, Noxapater Attendance Center, and Winston Academy.
