Winter Weather Impact Update

NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) – Less than 500 customers in north Mississippi will not have their power restored by Monday evening.

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley says 300 of those outages are in Tishomingo County.

At the height of the recent winter storm, Presley says between 10 to 15,000 electric power cooperative customers were without electricity.

He says quick action by utility workers and extra crews brought in have turned the lights on very quickly across the area.

Four County Electric Power sent workers to Tishomingo and Tippah Counties.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Mississippi Highway Patrol’s New Albany district says troopers responded to 40 calls.

Some of those were accidents and others were for drivers that needed help getting back on the road.

No serious injuries were reported.
