COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI)– Santa isn’t the only one working on Christmas, many others are too. Most stores are closed on Christmas, but many have to stay open for holiday travelers. Worker, Joel Pardubsky, doesn’t mind working on the “happiest day of the year” because once his morning shift is over he can celebrate.

“I got all evening to eat and be merry.”

He and other workers are working shorter shifts today and he says that working on Christmas is fun.

“We definitely aren’t busy today because this is the busiest store in the Columbus area, so today’s kind of a chill day for us.”

It’s a good thing that some gas stations are open today, because Santa had to stop by and get gas for his sleigh after his busy night.

“It was pretty long, pretty long. I got done delivering gifts about seven o’clock this morning.”

Although Santa’s longest night of the year is done, he still has some unfinished work to do before he heads back to the North Pole.

“Working at Wal-greens, got to get a couple of more gifts and take them back out to the good kids.”

The man in red said these are some of the things he enjoyed the most from working last night.

“Going down chimneys, eating my milk and cookies, yeah, I love the milk and cookies.”

Santa says he doesn’t mind working the long hours because he does it for the kids.
