Yalobusha Voters To Decide On County Government

WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WCBI) – Yalobusha County voters will soon go to the polls to decide how they want their county government to operate.

More than 1,200 people signed a petition to make the referendum happen.

Right now, Yalobusha County operates on the beat system. This means supervisors are in charge of county road and bridge maintenance, along with personnel.

If approved by voters, the county would move to the unit system.

Under this form of government, the county would operate with one road department and a county administrator would be hired.

Supervisors meet on Thursday to discuss an election date.
