WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – If you’re looking for a job, may want to start your search in West Point. Yokohama Tire held employment information sessions at EMCC on Saturday. It was standing room only after nearly 700 people showed up at the Golden Triangle campus. Representatives from Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi (YTMM) and EMCC were on hand to let people know how they can be a part of the company.

“I came today because I need a job and I’m trying to get what they’re talking about and everything,” says job seeker Delouis Grassree.

Yokohama officials say they’ll hire up to 500 people to work in the state-of-the-art facility by 2015.

“This will be our most advanced commercial tire truck and bus facility in the world. We’re looking to employ the latest of Yokohama’s technology in this facility,” says Alan Easom, Senior Director of New Plant Development .

Yokohama expects to review five to six thousand applications. Applicants will need to have a high school diploma or GED, take the CRC Assessment, and a basic manufacturing skills test. If you missed this informational session, it’s not too late to apply.

“First they need to go on the MDS website and applications will be taken beginning in February. I would say to contact EMCC for training,” says HR Manager Melissa Foreman.

“I was very impressed by the event. I think the facility that hosted it was very well prepared. Evidently the company that’s coming is going to be a great asset to the community,” says Linda Otts, who attended the job session.

Yokohama will begin hiring workers in April 2014. If you’d like more information about working for Yokohama Tire, just go to stateofms.yokohamatire.com. For training information call EMCC Workforce Services Division, Golden Triangle Campus at 662-243-2659.
