Yokohama Water & Sewer Expansion On The Way

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) -The West Point Board of Selectmen approved to advertise for construction of water and sewer expansion for Yokohama.

It was a unanimous vote between the mayor and selectmen to go ahead with the1 million gallon storage water tower facility. They’re hoping construction will start in September.

“This will help the community by officially bringing about 12 hundred construction workers, the initial phase one will bring about 5 hundred permanent workers. Each successive phase will be a total of 4 will bring a total of approximately 2 thousand jobs to the West Point area,” said Dwight Prisock, Superintendent of Water and Light Department.

The planning for the facility is already in progress. Officials hope the new construction will also bring spin off business to the area and additional companies to relocate providing more jobs.
