VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Thanks to some young from all around the country, a Verona resident got a roof repaired this weekend.

The 30 volunteers were part of a non-profit group called Bike and Build which raises money for afforable housing by riding their bikes across the country and building along the way.

Ellie Trent says each rider raised at least 45-hundred dollars before embarking on the trip, which will go to grants to pay for more projects.

“And we have some great affiliates that we work with pretty much every year,” she says. “Tupelo is definitely one of them. Its Habitat for Humanity has been one that we have worked with for a few years and they’re just incredible. They always have a lot for us to do,” she notes.

Trent says her group likes doing rehabs like this project in Tupelo. She says it was older house that had a lot of wear and tear including some termite damage.

She says Bike and Build is open to young people from ages 18 to 25.

Most people learn about it through word of mouth.
