LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi Senate will get its newest member next week.

Chuck Younger will be sworn in as the District 17 state senator representing Lowndes County 2 p.m. Dec. 19.

Lieutenant Governor and Senate Leader Tate Reeves will do the honors.

Younger was elected Nov. 25 after a primary and runoff. He’ll serve the remaining year on the term of longtime senator Terry Brown, who died of a cancer-related illness in September.
