COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mayor’s Youth Council in Columbus was in full swing Saturday night.

The Columbus Riverwalk was packed with the students from area schools for a fun night of fellowship.

Kids were able to participate in tug of war, dancing and a crowd favorite the pie throwing event.

For $1.00 students could throw a pie in the face of local leaders including their principal, Mayor Smith and Police Chief Sylvain McQueen.

The council was started in 2007 and includes students from Columbus High, Heritage, Immanuel, New Hope, West Lowndes, and MSMS.

The Councils goal is to help guide kids in the right direction, shapeing the leaders of tomorrow.
