Local Resident Honored For Organ Donation Efforts

FLOWOOD, MS (WCBI) – A Nettleton mother turns tragedy into triumph and is honored for her work today.  Julie Dickerson is the 2016 winner of the Spero Award for Volunteer of the Year.  The Spero Award is handed out by the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency.

Dickerson lost her daughter Amy in a 2007 car accident .  Amy was an organ donor and her gift of life has  helped over 100 people.   Since then Dickerson is a tireless crusader to have others sign up to be organ donors.  She travels across the state and region hosting awareness events with a focus on speaking with students.
