BREAKING: Mississippi State Will Host in 2016 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Yes, the wait was worth it for Vic Schaefer and the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State learned on Monday night they will host first and second round games at Humphrey Coliseum in the Bridgeport, CT regional of the 2016 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The Bulldogs earned a 5 seed and will play 12-seed Chattanooga in the first round. That game will tip off at 1:30pm CT on ESPN2.

With a win, Hail State Hoops will face the winner of Michigan State and Belmont for the right to play in the Sweet 16 on Sunday at 1:30pm CT.

MSU’s regional features the 1-seed Connecticut Huskies, who have won the last three National Championships and are currently on a 68-game win streak

Mississippi State finished the regular season 26-7 overall, their second consecutive season with 20+ wins (a new school record). The Bulldogs also advanced to the SEC Tournament Championship last week, which had not been done since 2000.
