OMAHA, Neb. – It’s the city most closely associated with college baseball. Omaha, Neb. has been the site of iconic postseason images since 1950. It’s where the Mississippi State baseball team hopes to do something no MSU program has done before: win a national championship.

Saturday at 2 p.m. CT, the Diamond Dogs get their first taste of Omaha, since no one on the 2013 roster was a member of the 2007 club that last advanced to college baseball’s finale. MSU will have to advance through a double-elimination bracket with Oregon State, who it plays Saturday, Indiana and Louisville. The winner of North Carolina, NC State, LSU and UCLA would await.

State’s contest with Oregon State Saturday will be on ESPN2. WCBI will have highlights and reaction from all the games during its newscasts.
