COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – A Columbus native is attempting to make a splash this weekend in the fighting world.

Jason Williams will fight Zach Underwood Saturday at the FedExForum in Memphis. He’s taken an usual path to this point in mixed martial arts, which is more commonly known as MMA.

They call the 34 year old “the trouble maker.” He started fighting after winning a tough-man contest, training as a kid in Columbus with former boxing star, now instructor, Oliver Miller.

He moved to Anaheim, California for two years to train. Williams said he almost gave up fighting to return to his job in construction before joining Jake Reeves at Relentless MMA in Columbus a year ago to train.

“I went to California to chase a dream and I found my dream after I got back home,” Williams said.
