Former Aberdeen School Leader Fails In Bid To Get Job Back

JACKSON (WCBI) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals has upheld the firing of former Aberdeen Superintendent of Education Chester Leigh.  Leigh was dismissed in 2012 for leasing two cars for a proposed district security team without getting official board approval.  During this time the Aberdeen District went under state control and Leigh says he was denied due process under the conservator and filed suit to get his job back.  A Monroe County judge ruled Leigh’s removal was justified. The State Court of Appeals today sided with the court and said Leigh’s dismissal was justified based on his failure to follow school purchasing policy.   The former school chief can now appeal to the State Supreme Court if he desires.
