Former MSU Bulldog Jarvis Varnado Recalled to Miami Heat

MIAMI, Fla. (WCBI/NBA) – The Miami HEAT announced today that Jarvis Varnado has been recalled from the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League. He was assigned to the HEAT’s D-League affiliate on March 1st.

Former MSU Bulldog Jarvis ‘Swat’ Varnado has returned to the Miami Heat after a brief stint in the NBA D-League.

Varnado appeared in five games (four starts) for the Skyforce and averaged 9.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.20 blocks while shooting 43.9 percent from the field. He blocked six shots vs. Idaho on March 5 in a 109-102 win and then posted a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double at Santa Cruz on March 8.

After playing in 10 games earlier this season for Sioux Falls, he has now appeared in 15 NBA Development League games (14 starts) this season averaging 12.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.67 blocks, 1.1 assists and 29.9 minutes while shooting 52.2 percent from the field.

After signing two 10-day contracts with the HEAT, Varnado signed with Miami for the remainder of the season on January 30. He has appeared in five games with the HEAT this season, totaling two points, two blocks and an assist in 19 minutes of action while shooting 1-of-3 from the field.
