Millinghaus Will Transfer from Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — Marshall Henderson isn’t the only Rebel that will be departing the Ole Miss men’s basketball team this offseason.
Sophomore point guard Derrick Millinghaus has been given his release from the Ole Miss basketball program, head coach Andy Kennedy confirmed on Wednesday. Millinghaus also confirmed the transfer, tweeting out Wednesday Morning: “Time to open up another chapter.”
Millinghaus had his coming out party during the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship run in 2013 where he hit the game-winning shot to defeat Missouri in the Tournament quarterfinals.
Since that run as a freshman, Millinghaus has struggled to gain traction with the Rebels following his suspension during this past season.
He played in 30 games this past season for the Rebels, averaging 6.6 points and 2.3 assists in just 18 minutes per game. But after his suspension, he failed to crack the starting lineup for Andy Kennedy.
Millinghaus has not indicated where he is likely to transfer as of yet.
Ole Miss has two point guards returning to its roster for the 2014-15 season: All-SEC rising star Jarvis Summers and redshirt freshman Jerron Martin.
