STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – Anfernee Mullins was arrested Friday and charged with simple assault, first reported by Michael Bonner with the Clarion-Ledger. The Mississippi State football player is a freshman from Aliceville, Alabama.

The Oktibbeha County Sherrif’s Office has not released further details on the incident.

In a statement Saturday, MSU says, “both the Dean of Students office and the Athletics Department are aware of an off-campus incident involving Anfernee Mullins, and are working jointly to learn more about the situation.”

Mullins redshirted in 2015. The incident came two weeks after the arrest of five-star Noxubee County native Jeffery Simmons.
