STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – Mississippi State’s comeback ended with a missed field goal Saturday, as the Bulldogs lost 21-19 to LSU at Davis Wade Stadium.

No. 25 MSU started a potential game-winning drive with 1:32 to play in the fourth quarter, down two points. A delay of game penalty pushed the Bulldogs back five yards before Devon Bell attempted a 52-yard field goal as time expired.

Senior quarterback Dak Prescott finished 34-for-51 passing for 335 yards and a touchdown. He led a scoring drive late in the fourth quarter that brought State within two, concluding with a TD pass to junior De’Runnya Wilson.

LSU (1-0) sophomore running back Leonard Fournette had 159 yards on 28 carries and three touchdowns for the 14th-ranked Tigers.

Mississippi State (1-1) hosts Northwestern State next Saturday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. It will be televised on the SEC Network.
