Ole Miss Exits NCAA Tournament

LOS ANGELES (WCBI Sports) – The Ole Miss baseball team left Los Angeles without a win in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

The Rebels lost 2-1 to 4 seed Cal State Bakersfield Saturday, unable to avoid elimination. Ole Miss finished the season 30-28.

CSU Bakersfield took the lead in the 4th as Brady Bramlett gave up a two-run home run to the Roadrunners’ Soloman Williams. Bramlett surrendered seven hits through seven innings and gave up those two runs.

Ole Miss plated a run in the 5th as Colby Bortles drove a ball to center that nearly left the yard. Bakersfield’s Jordie Hein potentially robbed a home run with the catch, but the Rebels’ Errol Robinson was able to score.

The Rebels were unable to score after that. Ole Miss went 9 for 61 at the plate in the two losses, scoring just two runs and stranding 25 runners on base.

Seniors Sikes Orvis, Scott Weathersby, Austin Knight, Sam Smith and Scott Ashford played their last game in an Ole Miss uniform.
