Sandroni, 64, had just begun his 26th season roaming the sideline for the Ole Miss IMG Sports Network and their football radio broadcasts along with play-by-play voice David Kellum.

“The Ole Miss Network has lost our sidelines man, Stan Sandroni,” Kellum tweeted. “Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. We are heartbroken.”

Sandroni co-hosted the Rebel Yell hotline radio show for over 20 years with Ole Miss Spirit publisher Chuck Rounsaville and also hosted the post-game radio show known as the Locker Room Show.

Before moving to Oxford and working with Ole Miss, Sandroni was the play-by-play voice of Delta State University for 17 years.

The Shaw, Mississippi, native was sports director at WCLD radio in Cleveland and then news and sports director of CBS affiliate WXVT-TV in Greenville.

Ole Miss will honor Sandroni this Saturday versus Louisiana-Lafayette with a silent microphone sitting on the sidelines.

Sandroni is survived by his wife, the former Glenda Marascalco of Grenada, Mississippi, and son, Christopher, who attends Oxford High School.

At this time arrangements are pending for visitation on Sunday night. The Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oxford.
