STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — There’s no place like home.

That’s what Starkville High School senior Tyson Carter must be saying, after he committed to play college basketball at Mississippi State on Tuesday.

Carter, a 4-star shooting guard prospect, chose the Bulldogs over Miami, Memphis, Arizona State and Florida State.

Tyson’s father, Greg, was an All-American on the hardwood with the Bulldogs in the early 90’s. He’s now Tyson’s head coach at Starkville.

“I’m very proud of him,” Coach Carter said. “As a father, just seeing how much better he’s gotten, he’s a totally different player now.”

Tyson plans to sign during the early signing period in November.
