Lowndes Agents Make ‘Crack,’ ‘Spice’ Arrests

LOWNDES COUNTY NARCOTICS PRESS RELEASE

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. — On Thursday May 2, 2013 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the address of 133 Harris Drive in Lowndes County. Upon entry to the residence Michael Anthony Guyton was found in a back bedroom attempting to eat alleged crack cocaine. Guyton was placed in custody and agents removed as much of the alleged crack cocaine as they could. An ambulance was summoned to the scene and Guyton was transported to the Baptist Memorial Hospital emergency room to be treated for ingesting cocaine. Ingesting a large amount of cocaine by mouth can cause severe bodily harm and or death due to over dose. Agents searched the residence, which resulted in the seizure of alleged crack cocaine and alleged powder cocaine. After being treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital and released Michael Anthony Guyton, 35, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. Guyton is currently in the custody of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department awaiting bond.

On Wednesday May 1, 2013 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the address of 920 13th Street North apartment B in Columbus. A search of the residence and the suspect’s vehicle yielded over one ounce of K2 spice and marijuana. Agents also seized an undisclosed amount of currency. Charles Christopher Moody, 20, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Moody is currently in custody of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s department awaiting bond. This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of the new and upcoming drug Spice in the Lowndes County area. Spice is listed as a schedule I controlled substance by DEA, which falls into the same category as marijuana.
