LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Santa came early for three Lowndes County families Wednesday.
For the tenth year, the staff of Lowndes County Justice Court provided Christmas for three families from West Lowndes, New Hope, and Caledonia. Children were treated to a celebration with a special visit from Santa and Miz Clause. Recipient families say they are more than grateful for the Justice Court’s generosity.
“I lost my husband in July and it’s been a hard road since then, but we’ve been blessed by a lot of people and a lot of people have touched our lives since then. This particular event is very special for my family,” said Lori Haynes, a Christmas recipient.
The Justice Court staff says it’s their way of spreading the holiday spirit.
“We want to be a blessing to someone in the community and each year we do this it’s kind of like paying it forward. If we can do something to help somebody, then they will understand how important it is and be willing to do something for someone else,” said Justice Court Administrator Linder Erby.
Donations from the staff and others help fund the annual giving.
