Lowndes County Man Will Be Sentenced This Week Following 2014 Shooting

LOWNDES CO., Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County man will be sentenced Friday after pleading guilty today.

34-year-old Eric Brooks pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in connection with a March 2014 shooting.

Prosecutors say he shot into a car but did not hit anyone.

Brooks was originally charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, along with simple assault on a police officer.

District Attorney Scott Colom says Brooks will be sentenced in Lowndes County Circuit Court on Friday.
