Man Charged In Church Burglary

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A man is facing charges for allegedly breaking into a Tupelo church, stealing equipment and cash.

Employees at First Baptist Church called police on November 14th after they noticed the break-in.

Evidence at the scene led investigators to Joseph Channing Smith.

He’s facing an enhanced burglary charge because the alleged crime happened at a church.

Police say about $10,000 dollars in computers and sound equipment and a small amount of petty cash were missing.

Smith’s bond was set at $75,000.
