Mississippi State Football Senior Arrested Sunday Morning

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Six days before the season opener at Mississippi State, one Bulldog is dealing with off the field issues.

Senior defensive lineman Nick James was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of public intoxication according to the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office. Joel Coleman of the Starkville Daily News was the first to report this.

Mississippi State confirmed in a statement that head coach Dan Mullen is “aware of an incident involving Nick James that occurred last night and he is currently getting more information on it.”

According to Coleman’s report, James was arrested by Starkville PD at 1:36 a.m. at Rick’s Cafe. He was then released on bond.

This marks the fourth time in the last three years that Nick James has been arrested at Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound senior saw ten starts at defensive tackle last year. He’s tallied 43 tackles in his career at Mississippi State.
